Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Friday said the congratulatory letter from United States President Donald Trump on Georgia’s Independence Day represented a readiness to renew bilateral relations.
In his remarks, Kavelashvili emphasised that the letter went beyond standard diplomatic courtesy and contained meaningful messages.
“It’s essential for the public to know that, beyond being a congratulatory letter, its content highlights important points. It emphasises our sovereignty, security issues, and the ongoing struggle for independence and freedom, as well as the Trump administration’s readiness and desire to renew relations with the Georgian Government”, he continued.
The President also said the message opened a path toward future cooperation, particularly in trade and economic areas.
“The letter directly indicates that we can start relations regarding trade and economic cooperation. I think this is a very positive sign from their side”, Kavelashvili concluded.
