Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, on Friday said Keith Kellogg, the United States Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, highlighted serious doubts about NATO’s readiness to admit certain countries.
Mikanadze’s comments came after Kellogg on Thursday said that the United States was ready to consider a condition with Russia that Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova would not be admitted to NATO.
“Nevertheless, we have even reflected this direction and goal in our Constitution, and in reality, today we can say that, in terms of compatibility with NATO standards, Georgia is a standout aspirant country. This once again confirms the genuine doubts that existed that NATO was not ready to admit certain countries into its membership. In this case, with regard to Ukraine, it sounds ten or even a hundred times more serious”, Mikanade said.
