Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday said his Government was ready to reboot relations with the United States and renew the strategic partnership from a “clean slate”.
In his interview with the Georgian Public Broadcasting, Kobakhidze noted that Georgia had already laid out its position and was now awaiting a response from the American side.
“Our position is clear - everything is on the table. We are saying openly that we are ready to reboot relations with the US, to renew the strategic partnership from a clean slate. Now we are waiting for their position”, the PM said.
He further noted that prior to releasing a public letter addressed to the US President Donald Trump, Georgia had sent a private one with a similar message, underlining the country’s commitment to transparency and dialogue.
“Publicly, we are posing a question: how does the new administration view its relationship with Georgia? Our position has been stated, everything is on the table”, he continued.
The Prime Minister also touched on internal dynamics within the US Government, suggesting that the future of Georgia-US relations may depend on the outcome of the ongoing struggle between the new US administration and what he referred to as the deep state.
“A struggle continues between the new administration and the deep state, and depending on where the balance shifts, US-Georgia relations will be renewed accordingly”, the PM concluded.
