Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday commented on the opposition’s rally held on Rustaveli Avenue the day before, stating that despite large-scale organising efforts and extensive promotional campaigns, only around 3,000 people gathered.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that the low turnout had once again demonstrated the disintegration of the radical opposition.
“This is the current reality within the opposition. Therefore, when they talk about early parliamentary elections, in reality, they themselves do not want these elections because they know they are completely defeated. They are already speaking about this publicly. They are not even interested in them anymore”, the PM said.
“What they demanded no longer suits them at all because they would be defeated even more severely than last October. This is the current state of the opposition. Consequently, it does not matter to anyone, including themselves or us, whether this radical opposition participates in the elections or not. Local self-government elections will take place in Georgia, and these elections will be even more comprehensive if the radical opposition does not participate in them”, he concluded.
