Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday emphasised the enduring emotional connection between Georgian emigrants and their homeland during his speech at the forum dedicated to Diaspora Day.
In his address, Kobakhidze described the Georgian diaspora as a vital link in the country’s path toward European integration, crucial for promoting Georgia’s culture and intellectual potential.
“I would like to thank our compatriots living abroad - Georgian communities, Orthodox parishes, and Georgian folk ensembles - for their dedication to preserving national and cultural identity and maintaining Georgian traditions. The role of the Orthodox Church in deepening and preserving the diaspora’s connection with the homeland deserves special recognition. I extend my gratitude to Church representatives, dioceses, and each clergyman serving this noble cause abroad”, the PM said.
“I also thank the successful Georgian professionals who have achieved distinction in their fields and are contributing both to their host countries and to Georgia”, he continued.
Kobakhidze concluded by emphasising that, as a new political agenda was taking shape both regionally and globally, his Government would do its utmost to give Georgian citizens the opportunity to return to their homeland, reunite with their families, and build a bright and dignified future together.
