Georgia on Monday marks its Independence Day, celebrating the country's freedom and sovereignty. Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Botchorishvili emphasised that while Georgia now lives as an independent nation, the fight to preserve that independence remains an everyday responsibility.
In her remarks, Botchorishvili noted that the Georgian Government had received many congratulations for the Independence Day from its partners.
“We have received quite a number of congratulations, and the process is still ongoing. Today is our country’s Independence Day, and naturally, our partners and friends are extending their congratulations. We are, of course, grateful that they share this day with us”, the FM said.
Botchorishvili spoke about the events planned and already implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasising the importance of properly commemorating Georgia’s Independence Day beyond the country’s borders.
She extended her gratitude to the Minister of Culture for the cooperation.
May 26 is celebrated annually as Georgia’s Independence Day, honoring the day in 1918 when the Act of Independence was adopted.
