Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Thursday said US Congressman Joe Wilson's attitude and actions regarding Georgia were “easy to assess”, with his main objective being to foster a “false, baseless, and negative attitude” towards the country.
Botchorishvili’s comments came in response to remarks made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the House of Representatives regarding Georgia.
“The response emphasised that the new US administration acts on the international stage solely based on American national interests. For them, the type of government or governance style in a given country is irrelevant. What matters are the interests of the United States in a particular region”, the FM said.
She also added that the discussions revealed an ongoing review process within the US administration to determine what interests the United States currently has - or may develop - in Georgia and the broader region.
