Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said his Government would not allow any attempts to stage revolutions in the country with non-transparent or “dark money”.
Speaking to journalists, Kobakhidze emphasised that not only would such efforts fail, but any attempt must be preemptively thwarted.
The Government head stressed that transparency should not be equated with discreditation.
“We will not allow anyone to stage revolutions in Georgia with dark money, with non-transparent funding. They won’t succeed - but even attempts must be prevented in advance”, the PM said.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Western entities themselves had acknowledged that organisations such as USAID, NED, and EED had been used to implement “revolutionary scenarios”.
“In the past, completely false statements were made suggesting that no harm could come from Western funding. Yet the West itself has acknowledged that organisations like USAID, NED, and EED were used to support revolutionary scenarios”, he continued.
He further cited statements by the Trump administration and a video shared by Elon Musk as evidence, claiming they revealed how foreign foundations were involved in supporting regime changes around the world, including in Georgia.
“We all know there have been four attempts to organize revolutions in Georgia over the past four years. USAID, NED, and a former US Ambassador were directly involved. Everything is as clear as day”, Kobakhidze concluded.
