Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday described the MEGOBARI Act adopted by the US House of Representatives as a hostile act toward the Georgian people, as well as an affront to the country's independence and sovereignty.
Speaking to journalists, the Prime Minister emphasised that the will of the Georgian people must be respected.
“This is a very blatant interference and is absolutely counterproductive. Everyone must respect the choice of the Georgian people, Georgia’s sovereignty, and independence. The MEGOBARI Act is actually a hostile act against the Georgian people, Georgia’s independence, and sovereignty”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze also noted that he had not received a reply to his open letter addressed to the US President Donald Trump, but added that “silence is also a very significant answer”.
