Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday featured at a high-level roundtable discussion held within the framework of the European Political Community (EPC) Summit. The session focused on the theme - Europe's Security and Strengthening Democratic Resilience.
In his remarks, the Head of Government focused on the importance of a strong Europe for a strong world and called recent trends worrying. Kobakhidze noted that a large part of European states were facing the threat of losing their identity, while Europe was losing the power to be a strong player and protect its partners.
In this context, the Prime Minister reviewed the grave consequences of the war on the example of Ukraine and noted that in such a situation, other nations cannot rely on effective security guarantees.
The Head of Government focused on Georgia's achievements and stressed the need to change the unfair attitude towards the country. Kobakhidze stressed that Georgia was ahead of the countries that had been granted the status of candidate for EU membership in many criteria, and such an unfair attitude was damaging to the image of European institutions.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that significant changes would be made in Europe and that Europe would be strengthened, which he said was necessary to ensure a rules-based international order.
The discussion was co-chaired by the Prime Ministers of the United Kingdom and Sweden, and attended by top leaders from across Europe, including the Prime Ministers of Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovakia, Armenia, and Estonia, as well as the Presidents of Greece, Ukraine, the European Council, and the European Parliament, alongside the OSCE Secretary General.
