Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday said that the deep state had failed to establish control over Georgia, which he described as a matter of pride for the Georgian people, who, he said, stand by their homeland in this struggle.
In his remarks, Mdinaradze noted that the deep state was a network of individuals who have managed to establish control over many countries by pursuing massive corporate interests and strengthening informal, oligarchic influences.
“The deep state failed to establish control over Georgia, I am personally proud of this, and so are the Georgian people, who will stand by their homeland in this struggle”, the official said.
He also commented on US Congressman Joe Wilson, referring to him as a “cool guy”, who has become a “comic figure” for Georgian society. Mdinaradze suggested it was unwise to rely on such figures. However, he noted a more concerning issue - that more serious forces were backing the “agent network opposition” in Georgia and were involved in the fight against the country.
Mdinaradze addressed the skepticism of his opponents who question the existence and identity of the deep state, calling their inquiries funny and an act of fooling themselves. He referenced Donald Trump's assertion that the deep state is a significant challenge globally, not just for America.
“Trump has described the deep state as a serious global challenge - not only for America but for the entire world. But even without quoting Trump, we all recognise the existence of informal influences across the globe. Unfortunately, these extend across almost the entire European continent, with only a few exceptions. These are informal, oligarchic power structures - whether we call them the deep state or the global war party”, he noted.
“In cases when these forces were fully pushing toward war and backing it wholeheartedly, we called them the global war party - and we still do. Even today, they continue to support war. This is a collective of people who, driven by major corporate interests and informal oligarchic influence, managed to gain control over many countries. But they failed to do so in Georgia. I am personally proud of that - and not only the Georgian Government, but the Georgian people are proud as well, and will stand beside their homeland in this battle”, Mdinaradze concluded.
