Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Thursday expressed hope that the Trump administration would prove stronger than the deep state and take specific steps toward rebooting US-Georgia relations.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze emphasised that Georgia had made “very specific offers” to the American side and was awaiting reciprocal actions.
“We have conveyed our offer to the American side multiple times, including through public statements. We are fully ready for a reboot and are awaiting reciprocal steps. This was also the key message in my open letter”, the PM noted.
Kobakhidze further stressed that his Government and the Georgian people were awaiting reciprocal steps.
“We are awaiting reciprocal steps, and so is the Georgian public. If such steps are not taken, it will be a clear sign that the deep state continues to hold sway over the new administration - something that would be very unfortunate. However, we remain optimistic”, Kobakhidze said.
“We hope the Trump administration will prove stronger than the deep state and will weaken it. In that case, I believe we’ll see very specific reciprocal steps from the new administration. We will be ready for this”, the PM concluded.
