Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Wednesday said the Georgian Government was obliged to give a correct, reasoned response to a number of false information included in the MEGOBARI Act adopted by the US House of Representatives.
The MP’s remarks came ahead of a parliamentary discussion on an official response to the US legislation.
Makhashvili noted that the forthcoming statement by the Georgian Parliament would focus on three main topics: democracy, Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and the country’s relations with international and regional actors.
“[The Parliament’s statement] will mainly discuss three topics. These are democracy, Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic and Georgian attitude and relations with international and regional actors. We have seen a lot of false information regarding these three topics, included in this [MEGOBARI Act]. We consider ourselves obliged to give a correct, reasoned response to this hostile Act”, Makhashvili said.
