Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Tuesday commented on the open letter sent by Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to US President Donald Trump, stating that the letter was yet another confirmation of Georgia’s desire to reset relations with the United States and begin a new chapter based on healthy, constructive engagement.
“Above all, this letter reaffirms our willingness to reset relations with the US - to start from a clean slate and build a healthy partnership”, the official said.
“It is regrettable that, despite much alignment and unity, we have not yet received a clear position from the new administration. Nevertheless, this letter once again expresses our intention to restore and revitalise our relations with the US as soon and as effectively as possible. That is our main expectation and message”, Makhashvili concluded.
