Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Wednesday claimed the current state of the European Union was not satisfactory for Georgia.
In his interview with Rustavi 2 TV channel, Papuashvili noted that the allure of the European Union had diminished.
“The current state of the European Union is not satisfactory for us. Of course, its attractiveness has decreased. Let's look at the Baltic countries. Yesterday, the Head of the Latvian intelligence service said that “as long as there is war in Ukraine, our security is guaranteed”. This is how they view Ukrainians and the war in Ukraine. The prolongation of the war in Ukraine is beneficial for Latvia. This was said by the head of intelligence, that the longer the war lasts, the calmer they will be. Imagine the moral criteria in some governments that they speak like this”, the Speaker said.
“The President of Latvia called on us to impose sanctions. They themselves are warmly, sweetly, and perfectly under NATO's umbrella, and they are calling on us, a country whose territory is partly occupied by Russia, to escalate with Russia”, he concluded.
