Levan Davitashvili, the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Thursday assessed his recent visit to the United States and emphasised the importance of rebooting and strengthening ties with key partners.
In his remarks, Davitashvili acknowledged that relations with the United States were not at the desired level, especially during the final period of the previous administration.
“Our dialogue and relationship with key partners is of critical importance. Frankly speaking, relations with the United States have not been at the desired level, particularly in the final period of the previous administration. It is important for us to change this situation. Both Georgia and the United States are pragmatically interested in fostering closer and mutually beneficial cooperation”, the Minister said.
“This rational and pragmatic approach is fully acceptable to the new US administration, and for us as well, it is clear and productive”, Davitashvili added.
He further highlighted that, despite various speculations, the ongoing dialogue with the United States was very positive, and positions aligned on many important matters.
“I believe there is strong potential for enhanced cooperation with the new administration. We discussed specific economic initiatives that are designed to be mutually beneficial. The focus is on deepening cooperation with due consideration for both Georgian and American economic interests”, Davitashvili concluded.
