Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Tuesday expressed confidence that the ruling Georgian Dream party would secure another “decisive victory” in the upcoming local elections scheduled for October.
In his remarks, Papuashvili underscored his belief that public sentiment strongly favoured the ruling party.
“The assessments and attitudes we perceive from the public give us confidence that the local elections will be another decisive victory for the Georgian Dream. Our predictions, as everyone sees, consistently come true. These predictions are not mere wishes; they are based on experience and the attitudes we sense from society”, the Speaker said.
Papuashvili also criticised what he described as “externally managed protests”, asserting that they lack public support.
“The so-called protest managed from the outside lacks public support. We see that the public clearly analyses what we are dealing with - in the 21st century, we are witnessing blatant foreign interference in domestic politics, a clear attempt at regime change using outdated methods from the previous century”, he concluded.
Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said the preparations for the upcoming local elections scheduled for October would start in the near future, with all levels of the party structure involved in the process.
