Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday said no one would ever make decisions in the country without the Georgian people.
Mdinaradze’s comments followed statements by a retired US Army Colonel and former State Department official, who alleged US Government influence on Georgia through several NGOs.
“No one can influence the Government anymore. We have finally freed ourselves from these influences. We consider the opinions of our partners, but Georgia is now more independent than ever”, the ruling party official said.
“[N]o one will ever make decisions in Georgia without us - no one will ever make decisions in this country without the Georgian people. This situation should not change”, Mdinaradze continued.
“Maybe, time will pass, in this country Many Governments will change, but this should be a so-called trend, this should be a matter to be discussed a priori and no one should deviate from this, that an external task performer should not come to power in Georgia. Accordingly, decisions must be made by Georgians in Georgia”, he continued.
Mdinaradze emphasised that this principle should become a permanent trend, ensuring that no government subservient to foreign directives comes to power.
He also acknowledged past attempts to destabilise the government, including numerous revolution attempts.
“Our country is not at war, it has no economic crisis, and it boasts economic growth that we are proud of”, Mdinaradze stated, citing international recognition of Georgia's economic performance.
“Nothing threatens our peace and development if we continue to stand firmly”, he concluded.
