Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said European integration remained Georgia’s top foreign policy priority.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze emphasised that although the EU candidate status was initially considered a tool of blackmail against Georgia, the country neither yielded to pressure nor compromised its principles - and still successfully obtained the candidate status.
“We believe that by 2030 it will be quite realistic to seriously consider [EU] membership. By then, Georgia will be more prepared for EU accession than any other candidate country - in all respects. This includes democracy, human rights, the rule of law, economic development, and general institutional readiness for membership”, the PM noted.
“Therefore, we are very optimistic about the future of our country in every regard”, Kobakhidze concluded.
