Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Sunday said the country was more independent and sovereign than ever before, describing the development as one of the major achievements since 2012.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Kobakhidze noted that prior to 2012, Georgia had entirely lost its sovereignty.
“For years, we were forced to live under a regime of coerced cohabitation. To some extent, traces of that regime still remain, but today, the situation is radically different. Naturally, this transformation took time. Today, we have the opportunity to fully assert our independence and sovereignty. We have been progressing steadily towards this goal year after year”, the PM said.
Hefurther emphasised that the restoration of real sovereignty marks a fundamental shift for the country.
“Today, Georgia is more independent and sovereign than ever before. This is one of the most significant accomplishments we have achieved since 2012. Before that, the country had completely lost its sovereignty. For nine years, Georgia was governed by foreign agents. Now, we are in a fundamentally different situation where the country has regained genuine sovereignty and independence”, Kobakhidze concluded.
