Levan Davitashvili, the First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, on Thursday said Georgia could become a highly interesting trade partner for the United States.
In his remarks following a meeting with Ashok Pinto, the United States Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Global Markets, Davitashvili noted that the US with a very large consumer market was very interesting for the country’s exports.
The meeting, held in Washington, focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation and identifying new opportunities to deepen trade relations between the two countries.
“We discussed initiatives that I believe are mutually beneficial - aimed at further stimulating trade between Georgia and the US. Georgia is not just a small consumer market and a trading partner for America, where American products are sold, but Georgia and America can cooperate on a broader scale - Georgia is an important trade hub and American products, through re-export, are distributed to Central Asian countries, the South Caucasus, and the entire region”, Davitashvili said.
“Therefore, Georgia can be a highly interesting trading partner for America. Also, of course, America is a very large consumer market and America is very interesting for our exports”, he concluded.
