Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Thursday criticised the actions of certain foreign ambassadors and EU bureaucrats, labeling their behaviour as “anti-European”.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Papuashvili noted the United States had played a dominant role in global politics for a long time, shaping the direction of European policy.
“For a long time, the United States played a dominant role in global politics and shaped the direction of European policy. The US set the tone for the paths the European Union and many of its member states followed, including on matters related to war”, the Parliament Speaker said.
He further added that the change of administration in the United States had altered that strategic direction, creating a sense of confusion among EU bureaucrats.
“With the change of Government in America, this vector changed, including a certain distancing. The European Union bureaucracy is confused, partly due to low qualifications. Let's not demean ourselves, let's not think that everyone is smarter than us everywhere. The Estonian Foreign Minister is a clear example of this”, he concluded.
