Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, on Wednesday highlighted the strong message of support expressed by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev during Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s official visit to Baku.
In his remarks, Mikanadze noted the visit was significant not only for its diplomatic introductions but also for its substantive discussions, reaffirming the strategic importance of bilateral cooperation.
“President Aliyev expressed his unwavering support for Georgia and the Georgian people. He specifically emphasised that European energy security runs through Georgia, and everyone in the world should be aware of this”, the Parliament official said.
“This visit was significant not only in its introductory nature - where the President of Georgia had the opportunity to meet with all top officials of Azerbaijan, including the President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker of Parliament - but also in its substantive context. It once again confirmed Georgia's political will to continue working on important projects that are crucial for the future progress and success of both countries”, he continued.
Mikanadze also underlined the importance of youth exchange programs and cultural initiatives, which he believes would strengthen people-to-people ties and enhance mutual understanding between the two nations.
“Additionally, the importance of issues like youth exchange programs was emphasised - initiatives that will further bring the two nations closer together. Through such programs and joint forums, it will be possible for the two brotherly nations to learn more about each other. This, of course, will further strengthen not only political but also people-to-people ties between the two states”, he concluded.
