Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Wednesday emphasised the importance of regional unity and resilience in the face of external interference during a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev.
In his remarks, Kavelashvili highlighted that the shared future of the two countries envisioned a successful, economically strong, and prosperous South Caucasus region.
“Unfortunately, in recent times, our countries have repeatedly become targets of double standards and interference in our internal affairs by external forces. Despite numerous attempts, we are firmly countering these threats”, the Georgian President said.
He further underscored the strong and long-standing friendship between Georgia and Azerbaijan, crediting their shared pragmatic approach for helping the South Caucasus region define its rightful role on the international stage.
Kavelashvili further expressed confidence that the countries’ common future included a successful, economically strong, and flourishing South Caucasus, where citizens would be able to live happily in accordance with their own traditions, rather than imposed pseudo-liberal values.
The Georgian President stressed that ensuring regional security and stability remained a top priority, noting that no third country or international organisation can better understand the needs of the region's people than the countries themselves.
