Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili on Monday said the goal of isolating Georgia on the international stage was a driving force behind the domestic opposition’s efforts - a plan that ultimately failed.
In her interview with Imedi TV, Botchorishvili noted that no one could deny Georgia's function and role, adding that the country’s isolation was impossible, and even radical forces knew this.
“Despite these attempts, it must be said that Georgia maintains its role, its function, and its significance on the international stage - and no one can deny that. Sooner or later, everyone will have to abandon the plan that was written with the opposition's involvement - a plan that, to some extent, aimed to isolate Georgia”, the FM said.
She highlighted Georgia’s strong relationships with various partners across the wider region and reaffirmed the country’s key role in the Middle Corridor - a role that she says has been internationally recognised.
“Everyone acknowledges Georgia’s vital participation in the Middle Corridor and in its development. Georgia must have its voice heard and fulfill this important function. Therefore, it’s clear to all that none of this can be accomplished without dialogue and focused discussions with our partners”, she concluded.
