Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday praised renowned economist Jeffrey Sachs as a “true intellectual” who provides “independent analysis” of Georgia's development processes. Speaking to Georgian journalists, Kobakhidze emphasiსed Sachs's objectivity and respect for Georgia's sovereignty.
Sachs on Saturday called for the United States and European nations to cease their interference in Georgian politics.
“Jeffrey Sachs is a true intellectual, and he conducts independent analysis of the processes related to our country's development. Therefore, he has an objective assessment”, the PM said.
The Prime Minister highlighted Sachs's respect for Georgia's independence and sovereignty, noting that the economist believes political attitudes towards Georgia should reflect this respect.
“Jeffrey Sachs respects our country’s independence and sovereignty. He stresses that political figures should adopt a similar approach toward Georgia. This is also our key message - everyone must respect Georgia’s sovereignty, independence, and the peace and security within our country. These are essential national interests. First and foremost, they represent the interests of the Georgian people, and those interests must be taken into account by all”, he concluded.
