Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday said that the OSCE/ODIHR had confirmed the legitimacy of the recent elections, emphasising that the opposition failed to present any evidence of systemic or significant electoral fraud - not even in relation to less serious irregularities.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that the Prosecutor’s Office had launched an official investigation into the election process, yet opposition representatives had not even shown up there to present any claims.
“The OSCE/ODIHR has confirmed the legitimacy of the elections, and the opposition has presented no evidence of either systemic or qualitative fraud, nor even of any moderately serious incidents”, the PM said.
“Everything is crystal clear. The only thing they talked about was the so-called leak, but you yourself understand what kind of issue this is. Local self-government elections will be held in Georgia on October 4, and any international observer can monitor these elections as they wish”, he concluded.
