Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Saturday strongly condemned what he described as “donor-supported and NGO-organised street terror”, targeting the home of the Parliament Vice Speaker Thea Tsulukiani.
In a social media message, Papuashvili alleged that this act of harassment was orchestrated by NGOs and fueled by donor support, and further criticised the lack of condemnation from these donors.
“Breaking into homes, midnight terror in front of children - this is a familiar pattern. These are the very stories the entire country is hearing these days during the parliamentary investigation led by Thea Tsulukiani”, the Speaker said.
“Today’s act of violence by orcs parading in the name of Europe is a sobering reminder of who some are trying to install in power from the outside. They will spare no one, neither woman nor man, neither child nor elderly”, he continued.
Papuashvili criticised the silence of the international donor community, claiming that “for three days now, the donors who sympathise with this terror have not considered the Georgian public worthy of a response, condemnation, or dissociation”.
