Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Friday reiterated his Government’s unwavering commitment to European Union membership during a panel discussion at the ongoing Antalya Diplomacy Forum.
Speaking on the topic of ‘Partnership in a Multipolar Era’, Kobakhidze noted that peace was essential for development and for establishing strong and effective relations with other countries.
“Our main priority is to become a member state of the European Union. We have certain challenges in this direction, but we hope that by restoring peace in our country and in the region, especially in Ukraine, Georgia's integration will take place more intensively. We remain optimistic and look forward to positive developments”, the PM said.
He emphasised the crucial role of peace in fostering development and constructive international relations.
“Peace is key to development and to building correct relations between countries. That is why we must focus on strengthening peace in our region. We are very pleased to be doing this together with Turkey, a country that also shares a peace-oriented vision. Looking ahead, I would like to say that we will continue to implement our peace-oriented approach and focus on the country’s development - especially economic development, which will further strengthen our connectivity and economic resilience. Peace and prosperity are the values we should all be prioritizing”, he concluded.
