Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday claimed that the domestic opposition was effectively destroyed by external influences, despite initial efforts by those forces to bring the opposition to power.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze described the current state of the opposition as chaotic and predicted further decline in the future.
“There is complete chaos, and of course, this will continue in the future, and this is very good. If they participate in the [local] elections, they are doomed to a complete fiasco. We will win both the mayoral and council elections with a very large advantage in all 64 municipalities”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze further added that the Georgian Government must do everything to fully heal the political spectrum and system, which in his opinion was vital for the irreversible development of the country from a democratic perspective.
“Despite the fact that they are weakening on their own, it is very important that we actively continue to take care of declaring these political parties unconstitutional, an appropriate lawsuit must be prepared, which will be filed with the Constitutional Court. As long as the collective [United] National Movement [party] remains in politics, this country will not be able to rest”, he concluded.
