Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Saturday expressed concern over the role of certain foreign diplomatic missions and organisations operating in Georgia, stating that their actions were “not based on values”, particularly disappointing given the democratic heritage of the countries they represent.
In his remarks, Kobakhidze noted that there were growing instances of what he referred to as extremist and radical activities.
“There are various forms of extremist and radical activities. This is not the first time we've witnessed them, and unfortunately, our foreign colleagues sometimes encourage these actions either through silence or explicit statements, which is very regrettable”, the PM said.
He further expressed disappointment that some Western countries - traditionally known for their democratic values - appeared to be disregarding those principles in their approach to Georgia.
“Sadly, the actions of some embassies and organisations are not grounded in values. This is deeply disappointing - especially considering that we are talking about countries with long-standing democratic traditions, which they seem to be disregarding today”, Kobakhidze concluded.
