Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili on Friday said the former President Salome Zourabichvili represented the true face of the domestic opposition, emphasising that her stance against the state was mirroring the nature of the opposition.
Papuashvili accused Zourabichvili of showcasing the opposition's “true face” through her rhetoric and animosity towards the country.
He cited an incident where Zourabichvili, during a remote address to the UK Parliament, alleged Russian interference in the parliamentary elections held last October.
The Speaker criticised her for failing to provide evidence to support these claims when questioned.
“Salome Zourabichvili's role in the opposition is to show the public what the opposition is. In her person, we have a mirror of the opposition, with its rhetoric, its hostility towards the country, and its lies”, Papuashvili said.
Furthermore, he claimed that Zourabichvili represented a foreign-influenced opposition and non-governmental organizations operating in Georgia.
