Mamuka Mdinaradze, the Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Wednesday said certain opposition forces were struggling financially as European funds, which to some extent replaced USAID and NED funding, had taken over the mission, adding that these groups still managed to receive funds under different pretexts.
In his remarks, Mdinaradze noted that the development was very beneficial for the country.
“They no longer have access to the large financial resources they once had. This is very beneficial for our country. At the same time, the newly elected President of the United States and the new administration have exposed and dismantled this scheme, weakening the opposition’s ability to strike. As a result, they are in a state of panic and desperation, making continuous confessions about their activities, their failures, and even turning against each other with accusations and criticism”, the ruling party official said.
“Some have even started acknowledging the reality - that they cannot prevail. Their real struggle is not against us, but against their own country and state. In this case, “prevailing” means undermining Georgia, its independence, and sovereignty”, Mdinaradze continued.
The official further emphasised that the Government remained united under the goal of strengthening national independence.
“Our core idea is greater national independence - to ensure our survival, drive economic development, improve the well-being of our citizens, and maintain our leading position in Europe in terms of economic growth, despite global turbulence and ongoing conflicts. We must continue on this path while preserving our identity, culture, and safeguarding our homeland, language, and faith from any threats. Our focus is on development, honoring the past, and building a dignified future”, he concluded.
