Levan Zhorzholiani, the Head of the Georgian Government Administration, on Monday announced that the Department of Government Efficiency would be established, which would be responsible for overseeing the implementation of decisions across all branches of the executive.
In his remarks, Zhorzholiani noted that discussions haდ taken place with the State Audit Office, where a real-time auditing system will be introduced.
“A department will be created within the Government Administration, and the Internal Audit Service will become the Department of Government Efficiency. We have also discussed it with the State Audit Office, where real-time auditing will be implemented. While audits were previously conducted in past years, now the State Audit Office will be able to make assessments regarding ongoing projects”, the Government Administration Head said.
“I believe this will greatly contribute to the effective use of budgetary funds and will help take more efficient steps in any sector, whether it's energy, property management, or any other. One of the main principles of our governance is transparency and accountability, and the creation of this new mechanism serves to strengthen these two key principles”, he concluded.
