Levan Makhashvili, the Chair of the Committee on European Integration of the Georgian Parliament, on Sunday reaffirmed the Government’s firm stance on drug policy, emphasising that the state would adopt a strict and uncompromising approach to combating drug-related offences.
In his remarks, Makhashvili addressed the issue of drug policy tightening, warning individuals who may have previously taken advantage of a more lenient approach.
“I want to urge everyone who may have benefited from a relatively liberal drug policy until now to completely refrain from such actions, as the state will be unwavering and strict in its approach to combating drugs. At the same time, I encourage everyone to actively support a healthy lifestyle policy”, Makhashvili said.
The Georgian Government’s efforts to toughen drug policies align with its broader strategy to ensure public safety and promote a drug-free society.
Officials have reiterated their commitment to enforcing stricter measures while simultaneously advocating for public health initiatives.
