Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee, on Tuesday claimed that certain forces sought to open a second front in Georgia amid the ongoing war in Ukraine, aiming to create turmoil similar to that seen in Ukraine.
In his remarks, Gorduladze asserted that such a scenario would have benefited forces he referred to as the deep state.
“There were efforts to open a second front in Georgia. If the same disaster that is now happening in Ukraine had occurred here, it would have served only those forces known as the deep state”, the Parliament official said.
“They thought this would harm Russia, but they disregarded the total destruction of Georgian children, mothers, and families. Their response to this concern is simply, 'So what?' This kind of attitude is as Bolshevik and Nazi-like as Stalin’s infamous view that one death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic. That is exactly how they see it - just numbers”, he continued.
Gorduladze went on to claim that attempts to involve Georgia in the conflict were made not only behind closed doors but also openly.
