Oxford University's Well-Being Research Centre, in partnership with the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network and international polling organisation Gallup, has published the Global Corruption Perceptions Ranking as part of the World Happiness Report.
The study assessed global perceptions of corruption based on survey responses to two key questions: “How widespread is corruption in government?” and “How widespread is corruption in business?”
According to the ranking, Georgia was named among the top 50 least corrupt countries and territories, ranking 41st globally among nations and securing 16th place in Europe.
Notably, Georgia outperforms all current EU candidate countries and 19 member states of the European Union and NATO. These include Italy, Portugal, Czech Republic, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, Poland, Greece, Montenegro, Malta, Slovenia, Turkey, Slovakia, Albania, Hungary, Romania, Cyprus, Bulgaria, and North Macedonia.
Notably, the global survey placed Ukraine and Moldova among the bottom ten countries in terms of corruption perception. Ukraine ranked as the second most corrupt country globally, while Moldova ranked ninth.
