Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Monday officially rejected the constitutional lawsuit filed by the former President Salome Zourabichvili, which had sought to annul Georgia’s law on transparency of foreign influence.
The Presidential Administration noted that “the law is grounded in principles of transparency and accountability”.
The statement emphasised that the legislation aims to protect Georgia's national sovereignty and promote the country's stable development by ensuring public awareness of the funding sources of organizations that act in the interest of foreign powers.
Consequently, President Kavelashvili concluded that there was no basis for the constitutional challenge, and thus declined to act on it.
