Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, on Thursday said relations between Georgia and the United States would be “swiftly and easily” rebooted once the deep state was defeated.
In his remarks, Mikanadze discussed the potential for a reboot in US-Georgia relations, emphasising that the ruling party had long maintained that the “unfair treatment” Georgia had received, lacking any basis or justification, would change after January 20.
“Rebooting relations with the US is one of the key priorities of our foreign policy. The Prime Minister reaffirmed this yesterday. He highlighted that the primary foreign policy goal of our Government is to reboot relations with the United States - a country of great political and economic significance to Georgia”, the Parliament official said.
He highlighted that the Government had been closely monitoring developments since January 20, noting the new US administration's “rapid steps”, particularly regarding transparency. He pointed to the disclosure of how USAID funds were spent, revealing “hidden agendas” behind seemingly benevolent funding.
Mikanadze stressed the importance of continuing the fight against the deep state, a key priority for President Trump, stating that its defeat would eliminate the unfair and double standards policy used against Georgia.
“As soon as the deep state is defeated, the relations between Georgia and the United States will be rebooted very quickly and easily. There is a huge potential for rebooting relations between Georgia and America, and we openly declare that we are ready for this”, he concluded.
