Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the European bureaucracy was “hostage to its own statements” regarding Georgia’s EU integration and the opening of accession talks.
In his interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster, Kobakhidze pointed out that just days before the parliamentary elections last October, the EU Ambassador had directly addressed Georgian voters, stating that if the Georgian Dream party had won and the collective United National Movement opposition had not returned to power, the European integration would have been halted.
“Regarding EU integration and the opening of negotiations, there is a difficult situation, and in this case, the European bureaucracy is hostage to its own statements and they do not know how to free themselves from these statements”, the PM said.
