Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said his Government was holding legitimacy granted by the people, emphasising that this remained the state’s most powerful asset despite ongoing political challenges.
In his interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster, Kobakhidze stressed that the legitimacy for the Government was coming solely from the people.
“We have legitimacy granted by the people; the rest are challenges. However, the main tool the Georgian state has today is that the country is governed by a sovereign and people-legitimized government. This is the main thing; the rest are political challenges”, the PM said.
Kobakhidze also commented on international political dynamics, claiming that the deep state has weakened in the United States and is now focusing its resources more on the European Union.
“The deep state has weakened in the United States and, accordingly, is trying to use its resources more in the European Union. The deep state was equally strongly represented in the US and the European Union, it weakened there and, accordingly, it is trying to intensify the attack through European structures and European bureaucracy”, he continued.
“This reality explains the increased attacks from EU representatives, bureaucrats, and officials. This is particularly evident in certain countries where sovereignty has practically been lost - especially in the Baltic states, where governments are directly controlled by the deep state. Their attacks have become even more aggressive, which is very unfortunate”, he concluded.
