Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the new US administration was the only one advocating for the prompt cessation of the war in Ukraine.
In his interview with the Georgian Public Broadcaster, Kobakhidze claimed that the European bureaucracy and European politicians were criticising Trump's approach and were doing their best to create obstacles to his peace process.
The Georgian PM recalled the recent statement by a leader of an EU member state suggesting that peace in Ukraine could be “more dangerous” than the ongoing war.
“I will remind you of specific statements. A prime minister of an EU member country directly stated - whether it was a slip of the tongue or not - that peace in Ukraine now could be more dangerous than war. What more do we need to understand the attitude of European bureaucrats towards the war in Ukraine?” the Prime Minister said.
He went on to accuse certain European officials of deliberately prolonging the conflict, referring to them as representatives of the deep state who significantly influence EU policies.
“They directly state that they should facilitate the prolongation of the war in Ukraine. Why should we be surprised that certain individuals wanted and still want to see similar processes in Georgia, meaning a second front? Their statements are readily available. They are directly creating artificial obstacles for President Trump on the path to conducting the peace process”, he concluded.
