Givi Mikanadze, the Chair of the Parliament’s Committee on Education, Science and Youth Affairs, on Tuesday said the policy towards individuals engaged in the sale of drugs must be implemented with particular strictness.
In his remarks, Mikanadze noted that a new package of measures designed to strengthen approaches and enhance public safety had been developed by the legislative body.
“The policy must be enforced with particular strictness against individuals engaged in the distribution of narcotic substances. At the same time, we must also focus on those struggling with addiction, ensuring that the state takes additional concrete steps to support them”, the Parliament official said.
The Georgian Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs will discuss legislative changes related to drug offenses on Tuesday.
