Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Monday asserted that the domestic opposition, whether fragmented or united, had no chance of achieving success in the political scene.
In his remarks, Kaladze expressed confidence that the ruling party would secure victory in the upcoming local elections scheduled for October “with public support”.
He further claimed that the opposition was awaiting external directives regarding the participation in the elections.
“It makes no difference whether radicals act separately or as a united force. Their [foreign] patrons wanted them to form a single platform, but it is clear that they are failing. They spend their time attacking each other. The opposition, whether divided or united, has no chance of political success”, the ruling party official said.
He further highlighted that it remained unclear what stance the opposition would take or what decisions they would make regarding the elections.
“It is evident that they will follow external instructions, as they are not in control of their own decisions. They are simply waiting for directives. They have no chance of winning in any municipality”, Kaladze concluded.
