Parliament Committee to review bill mirroring FARA in second hearing
Politics

The Georgian Parliament's Committee on Legal Affairs will review on Monday Foreign Agents Registration Act in its second hearing, a legislative proposal initiated by the ruling Georgian Dream party.
The bill is an exact replica of the US Foreign Agents Registration Act and aims to ensure transparency in the funding of organisations representing foreign state interests in the country.
The parliamentary majority argues that the current Transparency Law has proven too lenient, allowing certain organisations to circumvent its regulations.
They believe a stricter law, mirroring FARA, is necessary to ensure greater transparency.
