Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee, on Friday welcomed the recent meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to the country.
In his remarks, Gorduladze emphasised the importance of diplomatic engagement.
“It is good that the US Ambassador and diplomat visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia. It is good that it was acknowledged that Georgia has a Foreign Minister, Maka Botchorishvili, who is a member of the Government approved by the Parliament elected through legitimate elections, and of course, we welcome such statements”, the Parliament official said.
“Many representatives of the agent network were disappointed. Of course, it is good when we see such relationships and steps taken. When we talked about defeating the deep state, we meant, among other things, changing all those very bad experiences of the past and establishing relations at a level that befits two equal and honourable countries”, he continued.
Gorduladze further reaffirmed that the ruling team remained open to discussions, whether behind closed doors or in public.
“We have always said in the past, many leaders of our team have said, that we are ready to talk to everyone, whether behind closed doors or openly. We will continue to talk to everyone in the same way, including telling our truth, stating our position, and presenting our arguments. Of course, we will hear answers. Most importantly, all this will definitely be done in the interest of our country and the interest of the Georgian people”, he concluded.
