Rati Ionatamishvili, the Chair of the Georgian Parliament’s Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee, on Friday commented on the recent meeting between the United States Ambassador Robin Dunnigan and the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili, highlighting the shared interests and values discussed during the meeting.
In his interview with Imedi TV, Ionatamishvili noted that the core goal of the meeting was to strengthen the alignment of Georgia and the United States on shared priorities, explaining that the focus of the discussions was on mutual interests, underscoring the importance of such diplomatic engagements.
“I believe it’s a very interesting and business-oriented statement for us. These meetings are primarily focused on shared interests and values, which we continue to uphold. On the other hand, it seems like a difficult day for the radical opposition, which prefers to remain in denial. They have repeatedly claimed that the Government and Parliament are illegitimate. However, once again, we see that this meeting took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with the US Ambassador meeting directly with Georgia’s Foreign Minister and conveying the views of the US President and Secretary of State”, the Parliament official said.
Top priorities set by the United States President Donald Trump and the Secretary of State Marco Rubio were discussed on Friday in a meeting between the Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili and Robin Dunnigan, the United States Ambassador to the country.
The discussion focused on steps Georgia can take to strengthen its relationship with the United States and demonstrate its commitment to advancing bilateral cooperation, the US Embassy said.
“Ambassador Dunnigan met Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili today to outline President Trump and Secretary Rubio's top priorities and steps that Georgia can take to demonstrate its seriousness about improving its relationship with the United States”, the US Embassy noted in a social media message.
