Archil Gorduladze, the Chair of the Parliament's Legal Affairs Committee, on Thursday said the timing of elections in Georgia was no one else's business but the Georgian people's.
Gorduladze’s comments came after the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Czech Senate on Wednesday adopted a resolution concerning Georgia's recent parliamentary elections. The resolution condemned the “widespread irregularities” observed during the October 26 elections and highlighted alleged human rights violations.
In his remarks, Gorduladze noted that the Government elected by the Georgian people did not need legitimacy from foreign nations or diplomats.
“What the Georgian people despise the most is the unfair attitude coming from countries or bureaucracies controlled by the deep state. It is encouraging to see that more people are raising their voices against these representatives and their controlled operatives. We welcome this. We, too, want a world where there are no shadowy forces hiding behind curtains, manipulating events. We also reject any foreign interference in our domestic affairs, as was the case in past imperial times. The decisions concerning Georgia must be made only in Georgia and only by the Georgian people”, the Parliament official said.
He further pointed out that in the past nine elections, it has been the Georgian people who have consistently decided to support the ruling Georgian Dream party.
“This is exactly what drives the deep state crazy and makes them lose their mind - how dare such a small, very dignified, and spiritually strong country like Georgia resist their great influences, whether in the form of financial power or not, and raise its voice against them”, he concluded.
