Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday accused US Senators Jim Risch and Jeanne Shaheen of being representatives of the deep state in response to a question regarding the MEGOBARI Act they introduced - a bipartisan bill that envisages sanctions against the Georgian Dream Government officials.
“We know who initiated this Act. These two individuals have repeatedly made anti-Georgian statements. The newly elected President of the United States is fighting against the deep state, which was one of his key campaign promises. These senators are clearly part of the deep state, as evidenced by the attacks we heard against the US President just a few days ago”, the ruling party official said.
Addressing the MEGOBARI Act itself, Kaladze dismissed the document’s title as misleading, asserting that it had no connection to friendship.
“Its name is cynical because this Act has nothing to do with friendship. It is purely hostile. We know very well who these people are. They do not represent the American state; rather, they serve the deep state. Therefore, this Act is of no significance to us. When they attack the US President for his fight against the deep state, everything becomes clear”, he continued.
He further claimed that any issue deemed problematic by the deep state was deliberately labeled as a “Russian project”, calling this practice deceptive.
