Kakha Kaladze, the Mayor of Tbilisi and Secretary General of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Tuesday expressed support for Donald Trump’s fight against the deep state while emphasising that Georgia’s primary concern was its own national interests and future relations with Washington.
In his remarks, Kaladze noted that the Georgian Government was closely monitoring developments related to the fight against the deep state since Georgia itself had encountered this issue directly.
“We started talking about the deep state because we encountered this problem firsthand in relation to Georgia. This is a serious challenge not only for us but for the entire world. The US President has openly declared a fight against the deep state. We are watching these developments and want to wish Donald Trump success. We support him, but our main concern is our country - how relations will progress and whether the deep state can be defeated. We will make a statement as soon as we see that the deep state has been defeated, as this will have a direct impact on us as well”, the ruling party official said.
He further claimed that the deep state had deeply infiltrated Georgia, investing significant resources in establishing its network over the years.
“The deep state had deeply entrenched roots in Georgia. You can see how much money was spent over the years to create its network. The same methods were used in other countries where they wanted to impose their interests”, Kaladze continued.
“Even today, efforts are underway to use Georgia for their own agenda and to overthrow the Government. Large sums are spent to deepen polarisation and create further division in society”, he noted.
The official further stressed that the ultimate goal of these efforts was to bring their own agent network into power - someone who would “blindly” follow their directives.
“In such a scenario, national interests become irrelevant. The Georgian Dream party remains the only force dedicated to protecting Georgia’s national interests and ensuring a stable future”, Kaladze concluded.
